Frequently Asked Questions

How are Fresh-Live Sea Cucumbers packed and shipped?

Fresh-Live Sea Cucumbers are packed in temperature controlled shipping materials, including ice packs, and are shipped overnight directly to you!

First the Fresh-Live Sea Cucumbers are packed in a poly bag inflated with oxygen and a small amount of fresh sea water. The bags are then placed in an insulated recyclable cardboard box. Frozen gel ice packs are included which will keep the sea cucumbers cold during transit to your home.

See our Shipping FAQs page, located at the bottom of the page, for additional information.

Why are the shipping options limited to UPS Next Day?

We provide only the freshest live wild caught sea cucumbers. We ship overnight to ensure this high quality is maintained during transit.

Where is my package?

You will receive emails from Gulf of Maine, Inc. when your order is placed, shipped, and delivered.

When do you deliver?

We deliver Tuesday - Friday.

Orders are usually packed and handed off to UPS within one business day. For example:

- An order made on Monday, before noon, will be shipped on Tuesday, and delivered on Wednesday.

The business day cut off time is 12pm ET. Any orders placed after noon are considered as next day.

Please let us know if you require special delivery services and we will do our best to accommodate you. Please note that there may be additional costs for special delivery services.

If my package was stolen after delivery can I get a reshipment or refund?

In the event that your package is delivered, and something happens after it is left at the address, Gulf of Maine, Inc. does not assume responsibility for the package. It is the customer's responsibility to receive the package(s) on the date of delivery.

All shipments are sent with a Shipper Release clause, meaning that as long as the driver feels comfortable leaving the package at the delivery address they will, without requiring a signature. This ensures that our shipments are received within a timely manner due to the perishable nature of our products.

My live cucumber died, what do I do now?

It is rare for sea cucumbers to die in transit. However, they can sleep in transit and appear dead on arrival, especially if the temperatures are low. If this happens, remove the ice packs from the box, leaving the sea cucumber to warm up for approximately 10 minutes. If the sea cucumbers do not move after a couple of minutes, please send us photos of the sea cucumbers.

We do require a photograph of the affected products, and you must attempt to reach us via phone or email on the date of delivery. Please make sure the picture properly shows the spoiled products or lifeless lobsters on its back. This can be sent to info@mainelobsternow.com along with your order number and the best way to reach you. We will reimburse you for the spoiled product costs, which will typically be provided in the form of a refund for the spoiled product. A re-shipment is not guaranteed.

How do I dispose of the shipping materials?

The box and internal insulation panels can be laid flat and recycled with any cardboard waste. We encourage the re-use of the gel packs.
